Knowing nowadays how hard it is to develop a manufacturing business from scratch and fund it, we decided to list 5 grant and support organisations and systems that could help you and you business in the developing stages as well as further ahead.
BetaDen is Worcestershire independent accelerator that provides funding and support for start-ups and scale-ups businesses in manufacturing, cybersecurity, robotics, AL, etc., which includes industry expertise and business support that will help position new technology businesses at the forefront of future tech.
Since 2018 they have supported 43 businesses with various opportunities for funding.
2. Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC)
The Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) designed a grant that enables research and development of manufacturing businesses across the UK. They have 4 themes: 21st century products, digital manufacturing, sustainable industries, new industrial systems.
The fund does this by:
- Investing in new growth areas, drawing on opportunities from emergent research across the engineering and physical sciences
- Accelerating the impact of our investments by connecting the research & innovation landscape, promoting collaboration between academia and innovative manufacturing businesses
- Fostering a research community with the appropriate skills and leadership in manufacturing research
3. Advanced Manufacturing Supply Chain Initiative Recycled Fund – England
Loans from £500,000 for SMEs in the manufacturing supply chain who are looking for investment to grow and support job creation.
4. Advanced Manufacturing Technologies to Create, Activate & Automate (AMTECAA)
Manufacturing SMEs in the Black Country, Greater Birmingham and Solihull, Coventry & Warwickshire, and Stoke-On-Trent & Staffordshire LEP regions.
5. Advanced Materials Characterisation & Simulation Hub (AMCASH)
Help support of product development for SMEs in the Greater Birmingham and Solihull, Black Country, Coventry and Warwickshire, The Marches and Stoke and Staffordshire LEP areas.
Providing advice and support covering a minimum of two-days duration (12 hours), including:
- guidance and assistance on the programme application process
- free initial consultation to review your business challenge
- as well as advice and support from leading researchers
